Mission Statement

The mission of the Stirling Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 is to protect the lives and property of the
people of Long Hill Township through aggressive fire prevention and suppression. Since our
founding in 1913, we have answered the call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and
continue to do so with a department that is one hundred percent volunteer. Through regular
training exercises, specialized training provided by area fire academies, and a respect for the
community, the Stirling Fire Co. No. 1 will stand ever ready to provide life safety and protection
of property for the citizenry.

A Passing Member

It is with deep regret and heartache that the Stirling Fire Company announces the passing of Chief Emeritus, Louis R Aroneo "Lou" on July 3rd 2019.

Lou joined the Stirling Fire Company in June 1971, 48 years ago, and served over 35 years as an Officer. Lou was one of the most senior members with excellent knowledge, experience and dedication. He had the greatest love for the fire service and all of its members.

"As a Firefighter or an Officer my #1 priority was looking out for the safety of the members!" ~ Lou

Although he would never say it, he was a Hero to the many residents he helped protect, to all of the members who he mentored and volunteered or worked with, and especially to his family and friends.

We will all miss Lou and our thoughts and prayers go out to Lou's family.
